Sad News

I'm not sure I have the right words to express what I need to express....

Right now I'm feeling a mix of sadness, disappointment and a good deal of anger.

After posting my new products on Everything But Freebies I took an inventory and found out that there were made downloads for $56 and the amount paid for it was...... 0$! And that was only for the new products. All in all products worth 174$ has been downloaded and my total income has been 23$ - That's bad business!

I am not willing to be a fool for my trust in other people so as of 10 minutes ago Everything But Freebies does no longer exist. I have closed the store for good.

To release just some of the anger I feel, I have to ask: "What were you thinking? Did you care at all that what you did was stealing? Did you for one second consider that what you took was something I have spend a lot of time and money making? - I hope that you at least feel a sliver of remorse right now, and if you do you can still use the Donate button here on NbF".

Well, it didn't help much, but maybe time will heal. At the moment I do NOT want to place my trust in other people's honesty, and that's just SAD!

I apologize to - and thank - those of you who have actually used the store as it was meant to.

When the disappointment lifts I might make a new store, but then it will be a regular store where you pay before you get the product.

That really is sad news, I'm so sorry the on-line community has left you feeling betrayed. I know how hard it is to get any sort of feedback, especially financial. All I can do is just leave a comment to say I resonate with your pain, I love your creations, your feed coming in has been a wonderful inspiration. Though I rarely manage to get round to scrapbooking, or even downloading your stuff, it's presence is really appreciated. I'm sure i can't be the only one!

Sorry to hear about that.. I wondered how your store would do and hoped it will do well.. You have been so generous with your freebies:( I do believe in the good of people, but think the internet allows certain people to behave poorly anonymously.. I wish you the best in whatever you decide..

I have always loved your freebies and I think your terms were VERY CLEAR in the Everything but Freebies store. I totally understand your disappointment. I've always tried to believe that people are basically honest, but your story contradicts that. I'm so sorry that this happened to you. The scrapbooking community, including you, are so generous with freebies and I cannot understand how anyone could break your trust when it comes to paying for things you sell. I hope you know that many of us out there appreciate your talent and your generous spirit. Take care.

I am so saddened to hear this! I can't believe people would do that to you! You are so generous and give us a ton of freebies, but people had to go to your store and take more! I don't understand why? I'm sorry you had to start all over!

Maybe because I'm older, or maybe because I grew up in NY in a family of cops, I am not a bit surprised. When I first saw you were having trouble with the "trust store", my thought was that you seemed very naive. People steal. That is why we have locks and alarms on our houses and cars. Having an internet business, I have seen so many types of scams it is appalling.
It is sweet to want to trust, but when people can steal, they will. It's just a sicking fact of life. You and I may never think of stealing, but then there is always that unpleasant day when we find out others don't think the same way we do.
Instead of closing down your store, think about using PayPal or some other form of payment. You should be able to make a profit from your work, and those that are willing to pay should have access to your talent. Please think about it. And best of luck in all you do!

Hi Trine. I honestly didn't even know you had a store. I "re-stumbled" upon your site this morning from a link on another site. When I read your post and saw your picture, I recognize you from Pixel Scrapper! I'm so sorry to hear that you had to close your store due to other people ignorance or just downright selfish behavior. I hope this does not take away your desire to design and share your creations. I would gladly pay for your designs, I think you do great work. Have you ever thought about doing a "membership" store where only those who pay for the membership can download the items? I see it all over and it seems to work well for them. At least then you would know has access to download and you are compensated for your hard work. All the best to you my friend. Tina

I wasn't aware of the Everything but Freebies store and so sorry to hear you were done this way when you trusted people.
Sorry you had this kind of experience but don't give up-- maybe there is another way to go about selling your creations. I am not real savvy about stuff like that. I do know everyone isn't dishonest but the ones who are hurt things for the good ones.

First I must apologize, it has been so long since my last visit. I've got about 22 different plates spinning and it is hard to keep them all on track AND visit my old haunts as well. When I popped over and read the Aug. 12 post (thanks for the awesome freebie in that post BTW), I realized that something was up and so started reading this post. I'm really sorry that you had to go through that. You have been so incredibly generous and then to have to deal with completely unscrupulous individuals is such a complete shame. I've also just finished reading that you are part of the Pixel Scrapper community. Me too! Maybe I'll see you out and about in one of the forums there. I am happy to read from your next post that you are in a better place and that you haven't given up. As someone who wants to start selling either in my own store or part of an existing one, this is definitely valuable information to know. I am sorry that it has to be a lesson learned at your expense though. Don't give up. You have so many people who love and support and appreciate you. I only hope the best for you as you move forward.

Hugs,
Lisa
